Lower Lachlan Groundwater Sharing Plan
Scientific review: Lower Lachlan Groundwater Sharing Plan (November 2006, 7.3 MB)
The NSW Government provided Terms of Reference to the Natural Resources Commission (the Commission) to conduct a review of the Lower Lachlan Groundwater Sharing Plan (the Plan).
After conducting a review of scientific basis of the Plan, we provided advice to Government in November 2006. Overall, we found that the information used to inform the average annual recharge estimate and the provision for groundwater dependent ecosystems contains relatively high levels of uncertainty. Improving the knowledge base is critical to improving the quality of the plan and to providing greater certainty for groundwater users.
Details of findings and recommendations are available in the report.
The Plan commenced on 1 February 2008 and information on its progress is available from the
NSW Office of Water website.
